"Yoga, for me, is about working the inner aspect of one's being. Though the asana practice does have a positive affect on the physical body, this is not the main purpose of yoga. The essential activity of yoga asana is the linking of breath to action, for the purpose of creating a moving meditation. The achievement is in the stilling of the mind. When this happens a person enters into flow, which I see as being a space outside of time. In this state of being it is easier let go of superficial concerns, false judgments and expectations. Yoga is a practice, which means that there is no point of perfection. Many people say to me, “I can't do yoga because I am not flexible like you”. I always reply, you don't have to be flexible or athletic or a certain body type to practice yoga. All you have to do is be able to breathe."
